Sotterly is a colonial plantation located in Southern Maryland. It was built in 1703. The time period of my painting would be the late 1800's. It is a Sunday afternoon after church in the summer. The perfect day for families to visit. The family is waiting for their company to arrive. The little boy is busy catching butterflies while his sisters are picking flowers. The cook is entering the kitchen on the side to get lemonade and cake ready for the guests...
